The Body Operating System (“BOS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides manual therapy education, including live and online classes and a certification program taught by Lisa Klein, PT, IMT.C. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit thebodyoperatingsystem.com (the “Site”), contact us, book a call, register for a class, or otherwise interact with us (together, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Services.

1. Scope

This policy covers personal information we collect through the Services. It does not cover:

•    Third-party websites and services that we link to, such as our online scheduling tool. Those services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to read them.

•    Clinical care. BOS is an educational program. If you receive physical therapy or other health care from a clinical practice, that practice’s own privacy notice (including any HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices) governs your health information.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you give us

•    Contact details, such as your first and last name, email address, and phone number — for example, when you submit our “I’d like to learn more about BOS!” form.

•    Scheduling information you provide when you book a call or sign up for a program through our scheduling tool, such as your name, email address, preferred time, and answers to any booking questions.

•    Registration and professional information when you register for a class, such as your profession, credentials, license type, license number and state, employer or practice name, and mailing address. We may need this to issue certificates and continuing education credit.

•    Payment information. If you pay for a class online, your payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. We receive confirmation of your payment and limited details (such as your name, billing address, and the last four digits of your card), but we do not store your full card number.

•    Communications, including the content of emails, text messages, calls, and other messages you send us, and any feedback, testimonials, or survey responses you choose to provide.

•    Class participation records, such as attendance, progress, and completion for live classes, online classes, and the certification program.

2.2 Health information you choose to share

BOS classes are hands-on, and participants often practice techniques on one another. We do not ask for health information through the Site, and we ask that you not include it in our online forms. If you tell an instructor about an injury, condition, or limitation so that we can keep you safe during hands-on practice, we use that information only for that purpose and never for marketing.

2.3 Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

•    Device and connection data, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, and general location (city or region) derived from your IP address.

•    Usage data, such as the pages you view, links you click, the website that referred you, and the date and time of your visit.

•    Information from cookies, pixels, and similar technologies (see Section 6).

2.4 Information from other sources

We may receive information about you from our scheduling, payment, and course-delivery providers; from class hosts and co-sponsors who help organize live classes; and from colleagues or organizations who refer you to us.

3. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

•    Respond to your inquiries and send you the information you request about BOS.

•    Schedule calls and register you for classes and programs.

•    Deliver live and online classes, course materials, and the certification program.

•    Process payments and send confirmations, receipts, reminders, and schedule changes.

•    Issue certificates of completion and document or report continuing education credit.

•    Send you updates about upcoming classes, new modules, and related offerings by email or text message, where permitted by law and consistent with your choices (see Sections 5 and 9).

•    Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site and our programs.

•    Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.

•    Comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, and protect our rights and the rights of others.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only as described below:

•    Service providers that help us run our business, such as our website and customer relationship management (CRM) platform, online scheduling tool, payment processors, email and text-messaging providers, video-conferencing and online course platforms, and hosting and analytics providers. They may use your information only to provide services to us.

•    Class hosts, co-instructors, and course coordinators who help organize and run live classes — for example, to manage registration, check-in, and logistics.

•    Continuing education approval bodies and licensing boards, such as the Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB), when needed to award, verify, or report continuing education credit.

•    Legal and safety purposes, when we believe disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of BOS, our participants, or others.

•    Business transfers, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business, subject to the protections in this policy.

•    With your consent or at your direction.

Mobile phone numbers and text-messaging consent are handled under the stricter rules in Section 5.

5. Text Messaging (SMS)

If you provide your mobile number and agree to receive text messages, The Body Operating System may text you about your inquiry, scheduled calls, class registrations, and reminders, and — if you opt in — updates about upcoming classes. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Agreeing to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase or class registration.

•    To opt out, reply STOP to any message at any time. You will receive one message confirming your opt-out and no further texts unless you opt in again.

•    For help, reply HELP, or contact us using the details in Section 14.

•    Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors in support services, such as customer service and message delivery, is permitted. All other categories of sharing described in this policy exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to keep the Site working, remember your preferences, understand how visitors use the Site, and measure how well our outreach performs. If we use advertising tools offered by companies such as Google or Meta, those companies may collect information about your visit to help show you BOS ads elsewhere online.

•    You can set your browser to block or delete cookies. Some parts of the Site may not work properly if you do.

•    You can limit interest-based ads through your Google and Meta ad settings and at optout.aboutads.info.

•    Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common standard for these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them.

•    Where applicable law requires it, we treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a request to opt out of targeted advertising for that browser.

7. How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy — for example, while you are an active inquirer, student, or certified practitioner — and as long as necessary to meet legal, tax, accounting, and continuing education record-keeping requirements. When we no longer need information, we delete it or de-identify it.

8. How We Protect Information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. No website, transmission, or storage system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Choices

•    Email: click “unsubscribe” in any marketing email. We may still send you messages about classes you have registered for.

•    Text messages: reply STOP to any text.

•    Updating your information: contact us to review or correct the information we hold about you.

•    Cookies: adjust your browser settings as described in Section 6.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable law, including the right to:

•    Know what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it.

•    Correct inaccurate personal information.

•    Delete personal information we hold about you.

•    Opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal information, or profiling. (We do not sell personal information.)

•    Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

We will need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. Where the law allows, you may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf; we may ask for proof of that authorization. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.

California residents: we do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Services are intended for adults and professionals and are not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Visitors Outside the United States

BOS is based in the United States, and we process personal information in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date above. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice, such as an email or a notice on the Site.
